When i paste text within InDesign, it loses all its formatting and takes on the style of where it is pasted. does anyone know how to fix this?MEKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05386305800320820105noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28416661.post-20248661215036233832012-05-21T11:06:56.280-05:002012-05-21T11:06:56.280-05:00@lisak: I'm sorry, I don't know of any way...@lisak: I'm sorry, I don't know of any way to do this in Illustrator.Keith Gilberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17639216496820581739noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28416661.post-35525924094594239802012-05-16T03:37:12.836-05:002012-05-16T03:37:12.836-05:00How do u do this in illustrator? How do u do this in illustrator?lisakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00143891147561438033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28416661.post-44913864032967695932011-12-04T22:47:05.878-06:002011-12-04T22:47:05.878-06:00i was using MS word 2007 and the command was CTRL+...i was using MS word 2007 and the command was CTRL+ALT+V.Mike M. This gives you a text file which you can copy unformatted text out of without the shortcuts.Findmysite.cahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09704779593866202351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28416661.post-37046673037672251532009-09-29T15:10:49.422-05:002009-09-29T15:10:49.422-05:00Just found a nice little Add-on for Firefox that r...Just found a nice little Add-on for Firefox that removes text formatting when its copied to the clipboard.
http://www.danielneumann.com/2009/random/paste-formatting-firefox-mac/Danielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07813219065483081240noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28416661.post-41911936858097283652008-10-16T14:14:00.000-05:002008-10-16T14:14:00.000-05:00Ah, i see. You said "the only way i can get it to fill the text frame fully is by manually backspacing at every the line break."

Depending on how the PDF is constructed, text that is copied and pasted from a PDF into InDesign will often come into ID with line breaks at the end of each line. The line breaks are not "formatting", but "characters". So no amount of messing with the Preferences and Pasting options will affect this. There isn't any workaround for this. You might want to look at http://www.textcleaner.com to help automate cleaning up the line breaks.Keith Gilberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17639216496820581739noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28416661.post-83425064397397098002008-10-15T12:09:00.000-05:002008-10-15T12:09:00.000-05:00Hi Keith,I dont have 'clipboard handling', because...Hi Keith,

I dont have 'clipboard handling', because I am using cs2. however the same function is under 'type' in the Preferences. i selected 'text only' But the pasting I get is not neutral. yet it is also not two column as the pdf as you have pointed out. it follows the line breaks from the pdf into a long single column.

i tried applying paragraph style, but it doesnt work. the only way i can get it to fill the text frame fully is by manually backspacing at every the line break.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28416661.post-63227238442209093782008-10-13T07:26:00.000-05:002008-10-13T07:26:00.000-05:00Chandra, choose Preferences > Clipboard Handlin...Chandra, choose Preferences > Clipboard Handling and make sure the option for When Pasting Text and Tables Other Applications is set to All Information.
