Acrobat 8 displays side-by-side pages differently than previous versions of Acrobat. When you choose View>Page Display>Two-Up, Acrobat 8 displays two pages side by side, but with odd pages (including the cover) on the left and even pages on the right. This prevents two-page spreads from displaying as they appear in a print document. To change this, choose View>Page Display>Show Cover Page During Two-Up.
Of course, if you are creating a PDF to distribute to others, you can control the initial view of the document. Choose File > Properties. Click on the Initial View tab, and choose Two-Up (Cover Page) for the Page Layout. Click the OK button, and save the PDF.

Is there a way to set page display - show cover page during two-up as the default for all multi page documents?
In Acrobat 8, if you choose choose View>Page Display>Show Cover Page During Two-Up with no document open, and then choose Preferences: Page Display and change the Page Layout to Two-Up, most multi-page documents will display correctly. The only ones that won't are PDFs where the author of the PDF has set the "Initial view" to something other than "default".
My PDFs are showing the odd page on the right and even page on the left.
This makes it difficult to read in the two-up page mode. I tried what you said and i can't get it to change the view from page one on the left.
Is there something i'm doing wrong, i've exhausted all options and its hard to read from right to left with 2 pages.
I did what you said and it this just makes page 1 display alone and the the rest of the pages still display incorrectly.
It sounds like you've done the first part of the instructions in the original post (View>Page Display>Two-Up, but not the second part of the instructions (View>Page Display>Show Cover Page During Two-Up). If you choose this command, page 1 should display on the right by itself, and then pages should display as a spread with page 2 on the left and 3 on the right.
Well I did exactly what you said and was doing both parts of your instructions and still couldn't get it to view properly. I narrowed it down to my fujitsu scandAll21 sofware. I fixed it by re-printing the pdf into a new acrobat file.
Thanks for these instructions, they were very useful
Google and your page to the rescue. Thanks!
Can PDF be viewed as preads without showing bleed and trim marks (without actually cropping the document). so that you can see weather images flow from one to other page correctly.
Now I don't have to add a blank page every time I encounter this annoying situation. Thank you!
Thanks!
